Arvid Engegård
Biography
Arvid Engegård is a conductor and violinist from North Norway. In 2006 he founded the Engegård Quartet which has become one of the most sought after ensembles in Norway. Arvid regularly conducts the Oslo Philharmonic, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. He has worked both as conductor and soloist with orchestras such as the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Belgrade Philharmonic and the Slovenian Philharmonic, Camerata Bern and Camerata Salzburg and the Mozarteum Orchestra.
Arvid was the leader of Camerata Salzburg under the direction of Sandór Végh, and the primarius of the Orlando Quartet in Holland, before returning to North Norway where he was appointed as Artistic Director of the North Norwegian Army Band. In 2004, Engegård and Knut Kirkesæther founded the Lofoten International Chamber Music Festival, "the most beautiful festival in the world".
