The Duo Slaatto Reinecke is violinist Helge Slaatto and double bass player Frank Reinecke. Since they started playing together in 1987 they have discovered and explored new territories in music. Through their dedication the duo have established a rich repertoire for violin and double bass, creating their own refined and virtuoso style. Highly regarded contemporary composers have written for the two musicians, which are often to be found as guests at significant festivals of new music. The duo has performed in Germany, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Austria, France, Greece, Armenia, Luxembourg and USA. Helge Slaatto (b 1952 in Oslo) has been Professor at the Münster Academy of Music since 1992, and was for many years also leader of the Odense Symphony Orchestra and Athelas Sinfonietta in Copenhagen. Above all he has made a name for himself as an outstanding interpreter of new music. Frank Reinecke was born in Hamburg and studied in Berlin with Klaus Stoll. At 23 he was given a permanent position at the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. For many years he was a Honorary Professor at the Mozarteum of Salzburg. As interpreter of new music he has premiered countless solo and chamber music works, many of them released on CD. As chamber musician he also gives concerts with Haydn Trio Wien, ensemble recherce and Xsemble, among others. Sept. 2009
