Hans-Kristian Kjos Sørensen
Biography
Hans-Kristian Kjos Sørensen is a multitalented musician. As soloist he might as well sing and recite lyrics, acting and playing cimbalom, at the same time as he controls the colours, rhythms and harmonic possibilities that percussion-instruments can offer. With his energy and versatile approach, Kjos Sørensen is highly in demand as a chamber music partner and works regularly with artists like Daniel Hope, Martin Fröst, Alexander Lonquich, Georg Nigl, Bugge Wesseltoft, Thomas Hengelbruck, Tanja Tetzlaf, Terje Tønnesen, the composers Henrik Hellstenius and Per Nørgård, director Per Olav Sørensen and the music theatre composer Georges Aperghis.
Hans-Kristian Kjos Sørensen is educated in Norway, Canada and France with Sylvio Gualda, where he received an unanimous 1. Prize with distinction. He is also a prize winner from the CIEM-competition in Geneva and a Norwegian Grammy for his solo-cd OPEN (BIS). He has also recorded for ECM, Jaro, Simax Classics and Aurora.

Henrik Hellstenius: Readings of Mr. G
25.02.2008
In later years Hellstenius has worked very much in a "process-orientated" fashion together with musicians when writing his music, resulting in a number of highly fascinating works recorded for this release. Henrik Hellstenius" music is lively and animated, with an interaction between musical elements creating a superior dramaturgy - perhaps a reflection of the fact that Hellstenius has worked a lot with music for theatre and dance. The listener experiences an immediate sense of an underlying melodic, even lyrical, sensitivity, either directly or indirectly present.
