Apart from Grieg, only the Sibelius concerto from the Nordic countries have attained classic status and universal popularity. Stehammars was one of the formost champions of Sibelius' music, but in his own Two Sentimental Romances he was more inspired by Johan Svendsen. Fartein Valen's short and intense violin concerto is his most loved work, much due to the fact that Arve Tellefsen performs it regularly. Tellefsen's personal and strong interpretations of these highlights in Nordic violin litterature make them unique.
